Who says healthy food have to be bland? Not in Salad Stop!
To be honest, I am never a fan of eating greens growing up. I remember ignoring it in our dining table as if it wasn’t served to us and all I see are the meaty options. I always skipped the salad section whenever we dine in a buffet. But it wasn’t until we traveled consecutively to Korea and Taiwan where eating greens are such a common thing, that I started to appreciate eating everything green and healthy.
Back then, healthy meals aren’t that readily available (unless you make them yourself) especially here in Cebu. I remember when pack lunch/dinner delivery was a thing where you pre-order certain meals that are already portioned to the calorie you need. It was quite a hassle to be honest. It was until lately that I started to notice restaurants that comes with healthier selections starting to pop up and I’m happy to know that Salad Stop! has finally opened their first branch outside of Manila here in Cebu!
Why Salad Stop!
“For us, our main philosophy is to work close with the local farmers and most importantly is about food transparency. Our motto is Eat Wide Awake. We want customers to start asking questions, knowing where your food comes from and understanding the nutrition value of your meal”, says director and co-owner Katherine Desbailles Braha.
I love the fact that they were also able to help and support our local farmers by working closely to them. Also for them to know and make sure what pesticides are being used and they can assure to their customers that all of their ingredients are 100% non GMO.
EAT WIDE AWAKE
“We never serve sodas in any of our outlets. We try to make the decisions for the customer already before you, and so you know that whatever you get are good for you; even when it comes to dessert, they are also made using whole grains instead of white flour”, confirms Katherine.
Eat Wide Awake is a continuous movement that they believed in from the very beginning. They want to help people to be awake of what they we are eating and being aware of what food we take into our body and eventually shift to a healthier lifestyle.
Salad Stop! is a family business that started in Singapore. They currently have 42 outlets internationally which includes Japan, Korea, Spain, Indonesia, HK and of course in Singapore. They already have 10 branches in Luzon and its first branch outside of Manila is here in Cebu.
If you haven’t been here yet then read on as I will show you what Salad Stop! has in store for you.
Here, diners can customize their own salad by choosing over 60 toppings and 18 dressings. You can always ask for assistance if you are unsure of what ingredients go well with the other.
Create Your Own Salad
1. Choose your Base/Greens. Salads are for P300 and P290 for wraps.
2. Pick your Toppings. These ingredients are guaranteed fresh everyday. They chop these every morning and sometime in the afternoon. They aim to have zero waste by the end of the day so they make sure they only chop the amount that is enough for 1 day.
3. Choose a homemade dressing. Their dressings are all done from scratch. They don’t use any paste like for Caesar, they grate their own Parmesan cheese and pound their own anchovies. All of their ingredients are made fresh daily.
If you’re a newbie and can’t choose your own combo, you can opt to try their 10 specially made signature salads and wraps. Freshly made smoothies and quick-eat healthy treats are available too. (See below for full menu board)
Pay your order at the Cashier and that’s it! Sit comfortably as you wait for your order to be delivered to you.
