Last night November 7, 2015, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu officially launched KHANA – a feast of Indian Cuisine as part of Cafe Marco’s Culinary Journey. This is in line with India’s Festival of lights – DIWALI.
Diwali, or Dipawali, is India‘s biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (or deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects us from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians.
Available for lunch and dinner starting November 7 until the 15th, you can enjoy an explosion of flavors at Cafe Marco as it explores the rich cuisine of India. Perfected under the guidance of Ms. Judeline Murjani.
The moment you stepped inside the lobby of Marco Polo Cebu, you will notice this huge piece of art. It is called Rangoli.
Rangoli, also known as Kolam or Muggu, is a folk art from India in which patterns are created on the floor in living rooms or courtyards using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals. It is usually made during Diwali (Deepawali), Onam, Pongal and other Indian festivals.

Last night’s dinner brought me to the time when I went to school at Bangladesh way back 2008. Every bite reminded me how its feels like to eat indian food everyday from breakfast, lunch at the cafeteria at school and dinner prepared by our house keeper at home. So much feels! Here are a few of the Indian cuisine being served:
That flat bread above has a different name on its label but i’m pretty sure that those are different kinds of Roti. I remember our local house keeper in Bangladesh, she makes really good Roti for us especially during breakfast.
Those in front are Indian desserts 🙂
Once Again, Thank you to the people behind Marco Polo Cebu for this sumptuous dinner. The former Bangladeshi resident in me surely had a great dining experience!
