A few weeks back, I was happy to be able to attend the Green Fashion Revolution event last October 18, 2014 (which is also the day of my graduation #bumibusy LOL) held at the SM City Cebu Trade Halls 2 & 3. My family was kind enough to agree on postponing our family dinner for me to attend this event. So from my graduation ceremony in the morning til noon, had a quick change at home then went straight to the pre-event at 3pm! whew!
Green Fashion Revolution is an event that celebrates sustainable fashion and creativity of the Cebuano youth hosted by Aboitiz Foundation Inc.. The aim of the event is to promote the 3R’s namely Reduce, Reuse, Recycle — through an inter-collegiate fashion show that will showcase the artistic use of recycled materials to form eco-friendly fashion.
But before anything else, if you’re not familiar with Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., then
Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. is the corporate foundation of the Aboitiz Group. Established in 1988, it addresses the social and economic development needs of magginalized members of society. It implements corporate social responsibility intervetions especially in areas where Aboitiz companies are located. The foundation focuses on three program components, namely education, enterprise development, and environment.
Before the main event at SM, we are also invited for the Bloggers’ Circle Spree at Feria of Radisson Blu Hotel, a pre-event dinner together with some fellow bloggers and the people behind Aboitiz Foundation. Here, I got to meet a few Cebu bloggers (for the 1st time evah!) and I also got the chance to meet Ava Te-Zabat of www.artsyfartsyava.com, a lifestyle blogger from Manila. She is by the way one of the judges along with Malou Marasigan from Aboitiz and top fashion designers — Dexter Alazas, Philip Tampus and Edwin Ao.
Not only did we learn more about Aboitiz Foundation and its upcoming projects but also we had the chance to taste these yummy foods!! Now i’m hungry!!
Now to the main event, the participating universities includes Cebu Institute of Technology – University, Cebu Normal University, University of the Philippines Cebu and last but not the least, my alma mater, University of San Carlos.
It was very nice seated at the front row seat, to be honest, because you get to see up close the details of every masterpiece of each look and I must say, I am very impressed of what these students came up with a head to toe look, from clothing, bags, accessories and footwear, out of just recycled materials like used tarpaulins, denims, news papers, etc. Here are some photos for you to see for yourself :
Thanks Jean Yu for the photo above 🙂
