Honestly what I’m about to share below is already a year old. Life has literally been life-ing hard and I just suddenly remember I wrote something on my notes app this time last year. So many things have happened since but that is a story for another post.
I should probably rename the title “August 2025 thoughts”, don’t you think? here goes!
I am writing this under a bunk bed, in the middle of the sea, no signal, 11:47pm to be exact, sailing from Hilongos Leyte to Cebu. I intentionally did not prepare any entertainment with me (netflix, phone games or book). My days have been very hectic for the last couple of weeks and honestly I crave for times like this. Where I am forced to do nothing and just be alone; with my thoughts.
While my bunkmate here is already snoring his way to dreamland, I’m still here. Still wide awake and unable to sleep, listening to my outdated Spotify playlist. Although im chill now, random thoughts have been running through my mind. Like how grateful I am of the hectic days. For good health. For my boyfriend’s birthday yesterday and me being able to spend his day at his hometown this weekend. And that I’m happy I had the chance to catch up with one of my closest friend in Hilongos, even if it’s just an hour before I onboarded the ship earlier.
Which also reminds me of my upcoming work anniversary come august 19. Omg how time flies? It has only been a year but why does it feel like I have achieved so much more a year could fit? Since August of last year, I have been back to Hong Kong with 2 of my closest friends, eti and lloyd, Joma included. Met my workmates in Manila. Then in Shanghai, China last November with Joma, which is one of my dream destination. First big successful Christmas pop up with my long running brand, caracebu. Spent new years in Manila with Jesse. Flew my first long haul flight to Australia to visit friends with my own adult money. Spent my Birthday in Sydney. Visited Ho chi minh Vietnam for the first time. And again back to Vietnam but to Hanoi at the end of this week. WOW.
All I can say is that, all these are made possible of this job that I currently have for a year now. Financially and flexibility wise. I’m thankful that it allows me to do the things I love doing, both personally and professionally.
Maybe for a little bit of context. I have been in my previous company for 7 years. To be fair, it wasn’t that bad. Despite hearing stories of my colleagues, I was always blessed with wonderful projects I’m assigned to. But not gonna lie, I felt stagnant. 7 years is such a long time and I felt like I needed some change. And learning my close friends at work resigning also did not help. Until my former colleague from Australia offered me a role at the current company he’s at. I took the opportunity and after 3 interviews, thankfully I got the job.
Fast forward to today, I’m nothing but grateful. I would definitely not have thought I’ve accomplished what I’ve accomplished the past year. Most days I might think like I’m lost and don’t have a clear path of what’s ahead but like what they said, it’s not about the destination ahead but the journey itself. We could be dead tomorrow, who knows right? We might not be able to reach the final destination for whatever reason, but at least we have no regrets as we enjoy this journey called life, one day at a time.
I’ve also fought hard battles this past year. Cried so hard that I thought my eyeballs’ gonna fall off; but I guess that’s a story for another episode.
It’s exactly 12:55am now and I guess that’s my cue to sleep and wake up in Cebu soon. Back to reality nasad
Goodnight ❤
